Terrible movement :: Mixtape styled by Maria Pizzeria

For SS14, Berlin based fashion brand Terrible Movement launch their SS14 “Mixtape” lookbook, inspired by dreamy memories of 90s teen angst and featuring a range of designs with handwritten fonts that pay homage to iconic music lyrics, and the kind of doodles you would scratch on your pencil case, scribble on text books or find in a homemade teen fanzine.  To capture the narrative of this collection, Terrible Movement have once again joined forces with photographer Alexandra Waespi to with a Lookbook shot entirely on 35mm and instant film.

You guys have seen me wearing their stuff before if not then here is where you can see how I styled the 'Daft crunk' tee! Everything about this brand is so fresh and youthful which is why I love it so much. Its so easy to pair with everything and you can wear their pieces from day to night.

Bringing a rainbow of colours to Terrible Movement’s world for the summer season, the process of screen printing – so central to the brand’s distinctive aesthetic – is further explored for SS14 with the use of the split fountain screen printing technique.  Split fountain blends ink colours to create gradient prints with flecks, streaks and supposed "imperfections,” producing unique prints that make each tee one of a kind in the best sense, and fully embracing the chaos of printing inks.

In bringing together a talented group of videographers, stylists, and photographers, Terrible Movement have produced a collaborative “mixtape” of their own with a wistful feel that perfectly mirrors the collection’s designs.  Echoing the brand’s handcrafted aesthetic, photographer Alexandra Waespi shot using 35mm film, and on instant Fuji film with an adapted Land Camera.  Working with both artificial and natural light, Waespi shot alongside art collective Splitpin Projects who recorded film on VHS, all set to the soundtrack of Creeper - an East London bedroom producer.

The lookbook sees Terrible Movement’s fun, youthful aesthetic complemented by Maria Pizzeria’s kawaii styling with shag bands, cute accessories and hair clips, stand-out sunglasses from Quay Australia and boyfriend-fit pastel and clean white pieces mixed with vintage sportswear, JuJu jelly shoes and the iconic 90s Cat “Colorado” boot.

So proud of my girl Maria! Absolute in love with her styling and check out her blog here if you like!

The range is now available at www.terriblemovement.com and at selected stockists.
